My Wonderful Heritage Community,

Wow! What a wonderful day we had last Thursday at Heritage! Our Halloween parties and our parade were such a success. What a fun-filled day!!  I loved seeing all the students dressed in their costumes and appreciate all your support with the class parties. I am pretty sure this day is one of our students’ very favorite days of the school year.

We have exciting news from our Fund Run in September and wanted to share that as a school community, we raised $34,179.  This is such wonderful news and I am so grateful for the amazing support we have from all of you. Because we had 75% participation and earned so much money, I am sure the students told you that I dyed my hair green and wore a tutu all day at school.  We had so much fun at our celebration assembly and I can’t thank our amazing PTO enough for all the time, effort, and hard work that they put into making this event such a success.

Hopefully, you all enjoyed our week off for Fall Break and had an opportunity to spend time with your kiddos.  I know our teachers always enjoy this break and come back refreshed and ready to inspire our young learners.

We had Dr. Tucker, our DCSD Superintendent, visit our school in October and he was so impressed with the teaching and learning that was happening in our classrooms.  He visited the studio and enjoyed working with one of Miss Wheeler’s First Grade groups. Mr. Ian Wells, who is one of the District’s Executive Director of Schools, also visited Heritage and was so amazed by the flooding model that our first-grade team is using to support all students in reading.  Thanks to our First Grade Teachers: Mrs. Platt, Ms. Hastings, and Mrs. Mitchell, along with our educational assistants, for supporting these students. Mr. Wells was so proud of the way we are supporting students individually with exactly what they need for reading support. Having both Dr. Tucker and Mr. Wells visit Heritage provided a great opportunity for both of them to see the outstanding teachers we have and the amazing learning that is happening at Heritage.

I wanted to share that Open Enrollment for next year began November 1st.  We have openings in all grade levels and would welcome any new students at Heritage.  If you know someone who would like to take a tour, please have them call our front office to schedule.

It is time to honor our wonderful faculty with our annual Apple Awards. Click here to nominate your favorite Heritage Educator and/or staff member.

Please know how much I appreciate you all and am so very grateful to be the leader of such an innovative and supportive school.

Warmly,

Jean Wolach
