What a wonderful day we had last Friday at Heritage! Our Halloween parties with classroom crafts and games made for such a fun-filled day!! The students and staff so enjoyed dressing up in their costumes and being able to have our parade for our community to see. Hope you all enjoyed some Halloween fun with your kiddos last night. A big shout out to each and every teacher at Heritage as they all purchased boo pops for every student in their classes. Not only did every student receive a boo pop, but we supported Mountain Vista’s Wish Week with this purchase. What a blessing our teachers are!!!

What in the world is Wish Week?
Wish Week is the time of the year where the entire Mountain Vista High School community comes together to raise as much money as possible for the Make-a-Wish Foundation. Make-a-Wish Foundation helps families with a child suffering from a life-threatening illness by granting their wish. This could be meeting a celebrity, going on a vacation, etc. MVHS adopts one Wish Kid each year to rally around and fulfill their wish. Wish Week is about something bigger than all of us, serving others who are less fortunate. In 2016 our third Wish Kid, Marlee, changed the purpose and the energy of Wish Week forever. Her final wish in her lifetime was to give teddy bears to other hospital patients instead of taking a trip, or meeting a celebrity like most kids choose. This sweet girl inspired us and ignited a fuel in us that we could make the world a better place by putting our efforts into this foundation. She unfortunately passed away in 2019, but we honor her legacy by helping as many people as we can annually with Wish Week. To learn more about Marlee, view this message from Marlee’s father. We would love to help make Wish Week a success!

Exciting News for Heritage!
We have great news! We recently received our preliminary results from our 2022 CMAS testing, and I wanted to share that these results are fantastic! We continue to show great growth as well as achievement. Our teachers and students worked diligently last year and the students' test results demonstrated this hard work. Way to go Heritage students and staff, I am so proud of you! Families of students in 4th-6th grade should have already received your individual student’s CMAS results. I also hope your children shared that they were all given a medal and a smartie as congratulations for their great job on CMAS!!! Here is the PowerPoint I shared with our staff celebrating our amazing CMAS scores. I am so excited to share some additional great news; Heritage Elementary School was ranked number 11 on SchoolDigger for the entire state of Colorado! There are 921 elementary schools in the state of Colorado. This rating is based on all testing that is done in grades 3-6 in both math and literacy for CMAS from the spring of 2022. In addition, we are the number one neighborhood school in the district!!!!! Congratulations to our hard-working staff and smart students on being the number one neighborhood school in all of Douglas County!!! Should you want to take a look at SchoolDigger, here is the LINK.
